PCI Digital I/O Products from Measurement Computing
What are PCI digital I/O products? PCI digital I/O products are a special
type of data acquisition board that provides only digital inputs and digital outputs. A PCI digital I/O board
or card has basic logic-level digital signals that are designed to interface with the PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) bus of a personal computer.
Digital input voltage levels for the “On-State” or Logic Code “1” are
typically from 2 to 5 volts. Digital input voltage levels for the “Off-State” or Logic Code “0” are typically from 0.8 to 0.0 volt.
Digital output voltage levels for the “On-State” or Logic Code “1” are
typically from 3 to 5 volts. Digital input (I) voltage levels for the “Off-State” or Logic Code “0” are typically
from 0.4 to 0.0 volt.
In addition to standard multi-channel PCI digital I/O products with logic level
and high current drive outputs, the PCI digital I/O family of products includes much more. Included in this family
you will find multi-channel counter/times (with and without crystal control oscillator), 2-4 channel quadrature
encoder boards, electromechanical relay boards, and 32-bit interrupt vector input boards.
PCI is an interconnection system between a microprocessor and attached devices
in which expansion slots are spaced closely and offer high-speed operation. PCI digital I/O based systems can support
both new PCI boards, while continuing to support Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) expansion boards, an older standard.
