Quick Start Guide

Measurement Computing USB products with Keyspan US-4A server

System requirements: Windows2000 or Windows XP

Prior to installing any of the hardware, ensure that both Measurement Computing’s InstaCal and Keyspan’s USB Server software are installed on any networked PC.  Install both packages with full administrator privileges, and disable any anti-virus software temporarily during installation.

1. Download the software.

Measurement Computing’s InstaCal can be downloaded at the following link:

The Keyspan server utility software can be downloaded from Keyspan’s website:

http://www.keyspan.com/

2. Connect the US-4A USB Server to your network using a standard network cable. Next, connect the power.  Then, you can attach a Measurement Computing USB product to any of the four USB ports on the US-4A server.

After connecting the DAQ hardware to the US-4A, proceed to any PC connected to your network.

3. Run the Keyspan Server Utility software (available on the notification area at the bottom right corner of your screen).  To access this, right-mouse click on the icon and select Server Utility.

The US-4A server should now be located on the Servers tab of the utility software.  The Measurement Computing USB products are listed on the USB Devices tab.

Verify that both the US-4A server and Measurement Computing products are shown on their respective tabs.  If not listed, refer to the Troubleshooting section of the US-4A User’s Manual (available from Keyspan’s website).

4. Close the Keyspan Server Utility software.

5. Right-mouse click on the Keyspan Server Utility icon in the notification area, and select Connect to devices.  Check each of the Measurement Computing USB-based products listed.

6. Run Measurement Computing’s InstaCal program.  The MCC USB DAQ devices are plug-and-play, and are detected automatically.

At this point, you can run any data acquisition software application—just as though the DAQ hardware were plugged directly into you PC!
