USB Based Analog I/O refers to a device that provides an
interface between a PC and one or more real-world analog Inputs and/or analog Outputs. The analog
input on a data acquisition board or card is the input to an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter.
The analog output on a data acquisition board or card is the output from a digital-to-analog (D/A) converter.
USB-based Analog I/O functions are found in most USB Based
Data Acquisition products. These products are reliable and rugged enough for industrial applications,
yet inexpensive enough for home projects. USB Based Data Acquisition products are the perfect way to
add measurement and control capability to any USB capable computer. Measurement Computing’s USB-1208LS
is fully USB plug and play, easy to use analog I/O module. It obtains all required power from the USB port,
so no external power connection is ever required and it measures just 3.25 inches wide, by 3.125 inches long,
by 1 inch high.
Software for USB-based Analog I/O products is provided in a variety of
forms, one of which will be ideal for any application. All USB-based I/O products include InstaCal, Measurement Computing's powerful
installation and test application and TracerDAQ™, the powerful strip chart recorder/data logger application.
The units also include the Universal Library, Measurement Computing's powerful programming language drivers
for Windows-based languages. OEMs and experienced programmers can take advantage of a comprehensive set of C++
routines (including source) that provide access to all of the units' functions. MCC USB-based analog I/O products
are also supported by most popular data acquisition software and include drivers for LabVIEW, SoftWIRE, and more.
